Cadillac Repair: stalling problem, crankshaft sensor, volt ohm meter

Question
QUESTION: I have a 96 deville with northstar engine. I'm having a stalling problem....when i pull the codes i noly get p1599 which is "stall or near stall detected" I did all the things that might cause a stall like cleaned my throttle body, egr valve, iac valve. Am i missing something else that i need to check?. If there was a problem wrong with crankshaft sensor it would throw a code. mechanic told me that. all im getting is the p1599 stall code nothing else.

ANSWER: I would be looking at more of a possible CAMSHAFT signal rather than a CRANKSHAFT sensor fault as if it was crankshaft sensor related it would tend to be a hard to start problem rather than a stumble/miss problem.

Have you made any repairs or had any repairs performed on this vehicle within the last 3 months ?. If so, What kind of repairs were made ?.

QUESTION: i asked earlier bout the 96 deville stalling problem. No i havent had any repairs done xcept for the fuel pump a year ago. when it stalls i do hear the fuel pump shut down and car stalls. but after a min or 2 car starts right up and dies again after a couple mins. could it be a fuel pump problem again? i mean a mechanic told me that either the fuel pump is gonna work or its not. not keep shutting down and running again. dont know if thats true or not.

ANSWER: You stated that AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO THE ENGINE WILL START ?.

As soon as the car stalls can't you immediately restart it ?. If NOT, WHY ?.
