Cadillac Repair: Traction disabled on 1995 El Dorado, cv joint, constant velocity

Question
I get the message traction disabled on a 1995 el dorado. when turning the front end makes a grinding sound; this seems to occur mainly on right turns. nothing noticeable on left turns.  steering seems to be OK.

any thoughts or corrective action dictated??

thanks

Answer
Sounds like you have a bad CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT (CV JOINT) and or a bad outer bearing on one of the front wheels.

You can determine which is at fault usually by physically looking at the rubber boots that are on each end of each axle that goes to each front wheel if the fault is a CV joint.

If the fault is a bearing you can determine this by retrieving the CODE from the vehicles computer system via the climate control panel.

What you need to do is to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com and he will talk with you via telephone and tell you how to retrieve the code from the computer and to help you fix the problem if you are some-what mechanically inclined.
