Cadillac Repair: 1996 Cadillace STS, electric fuel pump, blown fuses

Question
sir, my car has 140,000 miles. I was driving and notice that at the stop lights my car was idle up to 2000 on the tach...pulled over and put it in park...attempted to pat gas a few times thinking it would level off..it wouldn't so drove to station to put in gas...shut off and when finish i cranked up and it ran smooth as normal...drove 10 miles and cut it off and it has not started since...I've tried some trouble shooting, first by removing the tank lid and listen for running pump...no sound..I've check for blown fuses...all are good, I removed the positive terminal on battery and reconnected it and attempted to start and it act as if it was going to start and didn't...in the message center, it displays a message  of..service fuel center...can you please help me...

Answer
FIRST perform this TEST using a helper.

1. Have your helper remove the gas cap and listen for the electric fuel pump to run.

2. You turn the ignition switch to the ON position only. Do NOT try and start the engine.

3. As soon as you turn ON the ignition key your helper should hear the electric fuel pump in the gas tank run for TWO SECONDS ONLY and then it will STOP.

4. Does it ?.
