Cadillac Repair: 2000 CADDY DEVILLE SECURITY LIGHT, security, transponder

I have a 2000 Caddy Deville 87k. The security lt comes on at times when first starting the vehicle cold. Light stays on while driving. Once vehicle is restarted security light goes off. I have already replaced ignition switch. Another problem has developed where all gauges reset to 0, instant mpg, distance traveled and mileage went backwards 1 miles, fuel gauge read 1/2 tank but distance to empty was 40 miles left. After driving all guages read correctly.

Hi Pete,

I was looking through the question pool and ran across your question.

You need to find someone (Automotive repair shop) or dealer with a Tech II scanner to interrogate the vehicle's computer for possible trouble codes, otherwise anything you try to do here to repair is just a guess just like replacement of the electrical ignition switch or mechanical lock cylinder which you stated you replaced.
