Cadillac Repair: 2000 Caddy SLS, volt ohm meter, pink wire

Question
QUESTION: Getting code P1860-TCC PWM Soleniod Electrical fault. It reoccurs after clearing. Is there a way to determine if the problem is with the solenoid or elsewhere like wiring. If it is the solenoid, is losing overdrive lock-in the only downside to not repairing it?

ANSWER: There IS a way to test the solenoid with a VOLT/OHM METER and the only effect to the transmission will be that you will have NO OVERDRIVE.

QUESTION: I quess my question wasn't worded concisely enough. I would like to have the steps in the testing procedure provided, including test points and expected readings per condition, or a source of this information. Thanks.

Answer
unplug the transmission wiring harness and locate terminal "U" (pink wire) which should have battery voltage at the harness pin connection with the ignition key in the ON  position.

to check the solenoid with an OHM METER, locate pin connections IN the transmission connector ON  the transmission and put one lead of your ohm meter in pin (U) (pink wire) and the other in pin (T) Tan/Black wire and the ohms should read 10 to 15 ohms.
