Cadillac Repair: 97 cadillac deville, obd2 scanner, camshaft sensor

Question
QUESTION: Hi I have a 97 Cadillac DeVille 4.6 it is hard to start sometimes and when it does the rpm gauge is not working, it also stalls when driving shortly after starting. It will start back up but will eventually stall again. I recently installed a new gas filter, new crankshaft sensors, new knock sensor, the wires work fine and the ignition module works fine the spark plugs are new as well; two were shot when I pulled them out but the rest were fine. Should I check the camshaft sensor before the PCM. I pulled code p1350 and p1375 continuously. Any ideas on where to check.

ANSWER: When the codes appear on the screen you should see either the word History or Current after each code.

Which codes are History and which codes are Current ?.

If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need a DIGITAL MULTIMETER, Simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. I do not have a website so you will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com in order to obtain the information.

QUESTION: Nice thanks for the help. Both codes are recent i used a obd2 scanner and it had no previous codes in it they pop up both times it says I have 4 codes and they are both the same. Should I be checkin for certain voltage on the camshaft sensor I know where it is as well as the PCM or the MAF sensor though I dont think its whats causing my problem. Please advise futher. I do have a digital multimeter as well as the wiring diagrams on the haynes book for the vehicle.

Answer
Are the codes CURRENT or HISTORY ?.

If you use the vehicles onboard computer diagnostics via the climate control panel you can get much more information than the scanner will give you.

1. Turn the ignition key to the ON position but don't start the engine.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER ^ buttons for 3 seconds and release them the codes will appear and after each code displays you will see the word History or Current.
