Cadillac Repair: 1995 ELDORADO STS, torque converter clutch, torque converter clutch solenoid

Question
LAST YEAR I HAD THE SHIFT A AND SHIFT B SOLENOIDS REPLACED BECAUSE I WAS GETTING THE ERROR CODES FOR THEM. AFTER REPLACING THEM THE CAR STILL DID NOT SHIFT OUT OF 2ND GEAR COULD NOT GO MORE THAN 40 MPH WITH OUT REVING TO HIGH.I THEN HAD THE TRANNY AND TORQUE CONVERTER REBUILT AT A COST OF 1,900.00 DOLLARS.HERE IT IS ONE YEAR AND ONE MONTH LATER AND OF COURSE THE ONE YEAR WARRANTY IS OVER BY ONE MONTH.I AM GETTING A TROUBLE CODE OF PO39.MY QUESTION IS HOW CAN I FIX IT AND SHOULD IT BEEN COVERED WHEN THE REBUILT THE TRANNY ORIGINALLY. I AM PRETTY HANDY SO IF IT'S AN EASY FIX I DO NOT MIND GETTING MY HANDS DIRTY.ANY HELP OR ANSWERS YOU CAN GIVE ME WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED !

Answer
You have a fault in the TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID circuit.

You ALWAYS replace this item anytime you have to go into the tranny because it has a high failure rate when it starts to get some miles on it.

It IS possible that the fault could be in the TCC brake switch but the circuit needs to be tested.

If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need a DIGITAL MULTIMETER, Simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. I do not have a website so you will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com in order to obtain the information.
