Question1993 Cadillac DeVille 4.9L FWD 118,000 miles.
Transmission violently grabs and slips (surges) only at part-throttle on slight incline, most noticeable around 35 mph. Otherwise no noticeable slippage. No computer error codes. Dealer replaced transmission for $4300 and car still has exact same problem! So what else could be causing this problem? Ignition? Injectors?
AnswerSomebody made a lousy diagnosis as being the transmission as the cause.
Do you have a rough idle speed ?.
IS or HAS the CHECK ENGINE light ever illuminated on the dash while driving the vehicle ?.
It could be injectors, spark plugs, wires, sensors or numerous other devices. I would need to physically inspect and perform test procedures in order to make a diagnosis.
