Cadillac Repair: Shocks on 98 Cadillac, air ride suspension, cadillac deville

Question
I have a used 98 Cadillac deVille with 112,000 miles on it.  It looks great and runs great, but it seems that the shocks on the rear are not working properly.  When I hit a bump very hard, it seems as if the back of the car is hitting bottom.  Someone told me that is just the way a Cadillac works, but I think there is a problem.  Do I need shocks?  Thanks for responding.

Answer
More than likely your air ride suspension is not working. Are you getting any warning lights on the dash ?.

Des the rear of the car appear to set lower than the front first thing in the morning ?.

Try putting about 300 lbs of people or something in the trunk and listen to hear if the air pump starts to run and you should feel the car rising UP in the back. It may take up to 1 minute for the air pump to run.
