Cadillac Repair: Cadillac ignition problems, infinite resistance, poor spelling

Question
QUESTION: I own a 1993 Sedan Seville 4.9L front wheel drive. I am a tech for ford, but am not familiar with the HEI system (i know about older point type systems, and coil on plug systems). My problem is there is no spark, and the injectors aren't firing. I ohms tested the coil, and it showed infinite resistance on all fronts (so this means the coil is bad). But will this make the injectors in-op also? Or will only the pickup coil do that? I haven't pulled any codes yet as i don't have access to a tester (am currently on dissability).

P.S. sorry for the poor spelling, it was never my high point.

ANSWER: You do NOT need atester to get the codes:

To get the codes:

1. Turn ignition switch to the ON position. Do NOT start the engine.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER (^) buttons on your climate control panel for 3 seconds and release the buttons.

3. Codes will appear in the form of LETTERS & NUMBERS along with the word HISTORY or CURRENT on the fuel data display.

4. The display will stop at ECM?

5. Let me know what codes you get and if the code is history or current.,

6. Turn ignition OFF.

QUESTION: I did as you said. It displayed E, E52, .7.0
then nothing else, if i hit the "outside temp" button, it displayed F.8.0

Answer
E52 only means that the battery was disconnected.

Then the display stops at ECM or PCM. Correct ?.

I can provide you with pictures and test procedures to test the internal didtributor components to make sure they are OK.

You will need simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. I do not have a website so you will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com in order to obtain the information.
