QuestionQUESTION: My car runs and idles perfectly until it is warm, then dies while sitting at an idle in drive. It starts right back up and runs again no problem but if it sits in drive at an idle will die again and again! Running the AC seems to help it die less at an idle! I have been to a couple shops and they cant tell me what the problem is!
ANSWER: What work of ANYKIND has been performed on the vehicle prior to this problem ?. Has the battery been disconnected ?. While driving the vehicle has the CHECK ENGINE light on the dash ever illuminated ?.

QUESTION: I have pnly had the car for a year so any work done prior to that I wouldnt know about? Since I have had it yes the battery has been disconnected and replaced! I have also replaced the fuel pump,distributor and have also done a tune up! The check engine light does come on every know and then but will shut back off after a little bit of time!
ANSWER: The first thing I would look for is a vacuum leak in one of the numerous vacuum hoses on the engine.
Second, I would retrieve the CODE from the computer which is making the CHECK ENGINE light illuminate.
To retrieve the codes:
1. Turn the ignition to the ON position but do not start the engine.
2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons on your climate control panel for 3 seconds and release them.
3. Codes will appear in the form of A LETTER and NUMBERS, such as E22 or B115.
4 The display will stop at ECM?
5. Tell me EVERYTHING that you see, As if you were video taping it, on the display prior to seeing ECM?
6. Turn ignition OFF.

AnswerE046 = Right to left bank fueling problem.
B120 = Twilight sentinel fault.
The first thing you want to do is CLEAR (erase) ALL the codes from the computers and see which codes return.
1. Re-enter into diagnostics and after the codes appear you will see ECM?
2. Push and release the HI (^)button and you will see ECM DATA?
3. Keep pushing and releasing the LO (v) button until you see ECM CLEAR CODES.
4. Push and release the HI button and you will see ECM CODES CLEAR.
5. Push the OFF button TWICE and you should see ECM?
6. Push and release the HI button and you will see BCM?
7. Push and release the HI (^)button and you will see BCM DATA?
8. Keep pushing and releasing the LO (v) button until you see BCM CLEAR CODES.
9. Push and release the HI button and you will see ECM CODES CLEAR.
10. Push the AUTO button and turn OFF the ignition key.
11. wait 2 minutes and start the car and see if the check engine light illuminates. If it DOES, Recheck for codes and let me know what ou get.
