Good afternoon: I have figured out that the brake light switch on my 1998 Cadillac Catera is broken. However, I am not able to remove the old switch, although I managed to remove the wire itself. How can I remove the broken switch to insert the new one?

If the plastic switch appears to have plastic threads on the shaft that contains the button that touches the brake pedal, These are NOT the type of threads like is on a bolt that you have to turn to remove it. Just pull the switch towards you to remove it.
