Cadillac Repair: 1974 Coupe Deville stoengine/temperature light, 1974 coupe deville, engine temp

Question
Hello. I have a 1974 Coupe DeVille with a 472-4bbl engine and after driving it for maybe 2-3 minutes, the STOP ENGINE/TEMPERATURE warning light and buzzer comes on and stays on during driving and for a long period of time after the engine is shut down and the ingition key is removed. I was getting on oil pressure warning prior to this happening. The vehicle does not seem to be running hot and has not overheated on me at all. I recently got some moisture/water in the engine compartment and the weather has been damp and raining here. Could this be the cause?

Answer
On the right side (passengers side) of the engine by the front spark plug look for a single green wire that goes down deep into the cylinder head as this is where your ENGINE TEMP SWITCH is located. You can either replace the switch or remove the wire and ground the wire to a suitable ground.

If you do NOT see it in the above location, Look on the drivers side of the engine block in between the back 2 spark plugs area for a single green wire and do same.
