Cadillac Repair: ECT, coolant temperature sensor, engine coolant temperature sensor

Question
QUESTION: Sorry to keep bothering u bout this car...I own the 96 caddy deville with northstar. What is the purpose of the ECT(engine coolant temperature sensor) Does it have anything with burning too much gas? I changed all 4 o2 sensors and I'm still getting a code pc135 along with pc1660 which is cooling fan controls. Someone told me that changing the ECT would prolly fix my problem but i'm skeptical about it. the p135 code is for an o2 sensor that I already changed out, reseted my computer after that but still getting code after like 10-15mins of driving. I just wanna know whats the deal with this ECT sensor and does it have anything to do with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ANSWER: There are 3 relays for the fan controls if anyone of these relays fails you will get this code.

It is very easily diagnosed using a scanner, But without one all you can do is to replace all 3 relays, Clear the code from the computer via the climate control panel ONLY.

If the code returns, Then the QUAD DRIVER inside the PCM has failed and must be replaced.

You will need Electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture.  I do not have a website so you will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com in order to obtain the information.

QUESTION: I know about the relays but whats the deal with the ect does it have anything to do with fuel economy and control of the cooling fans

ANSWER: The ECT monitors engine coolant temperature and sends a signal back to the computer to balance the air to fuel ratio for mixing the air and fuel and also tells the computer to turn ON the fans via the quad PCM computer which sends a signal to the relay or relays to run the fan or fans at low, medium or high. In turn there is a feedback wire from each relay that goes back to the PCM computers internal QUAD DRIVER to verify that the relay or relays are working correctly.

The ECT is NOT your problem as if it were faulty you would have a code PC1114,PC1115, PC1258.

You mentioned code PC135. There is no such code. What is the correct code and is the code a HISTORY or CURRENT code ?.

Also is the PC1660 a HISTORY or CURRENT code.

QUESTION: You said pc135 doesnt exist well may i typed it wrong its pc0135 this is for an o2 sensor that i already changed out its history now but if i drive for about 10 mins it comes back to current and says service emissions system on dash.

Answer
PC0135 = Right o2  sensor heater circuit malfunction.

Are you ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that you replaced the CORRECT 02 sensor. As there are FOUR o2 sensors on this vehicle.

Did you CLEAR (erase) ALL the codes from the computers via the climate control panel ?. Disconnecting the battery or pulling fuses will NOT erase the codes.
