Cadillac Repair: Removing air pump, ca emissions, auto parts store

Question
The pulley on the air pump (emissions system) of my 1990 Deville is wobbling and making a tremendous racket while the car is running. I was wondering if I could remove the pulley and purchase the belt offered for the car without CA emissions. Would the other belt be the correct size to bypass the air pump altogether? Emissions aren't an issue here and I'd like to save the money on this to do further repairs on the car.

Answer
You need that pump to make the engine perform properly or you will cause the CHECK ENGINE light to illuminate on the dash due to to much fuel in the exhaust system.

You need a special pulley remover/installer to remove the pulley and install it. You can purchase one at most any auto parts store.
