Cadillac Repair: 2002 DTS A/C control, vacuum line, plastic vacuum

My air conditioner controls seem stuck in defrost, , whenever a/ac is selected all the air goes to windshield and can not be brought down to dash and floor vents. everything works as advertised except air control ie...seems stuck in defrost mode

Answer
In most cases this is caused by a loose or broken vacuum line in the engine compartment. Look near the firewall in the engine compartment for a thin black plastic vacuum line that goes thru the firewall usually on the passengers side. It may be going thru the firewall along within the wiring cluster.
