Cadillac Repair: 98 cadillac deville, cadillac deville, fusible links

I recently replaced the side terminal battery in my 98 cadillac.  During this process the wrench slipped and became wedged in an arcing position. After approx. 6-7 seconds I as able to dislodge it.  After replacing the battery again (the positive terminal receiver melted) I could only get a single click.  Voltage is good (and I tried jumping to be sure).  I checked the master giant fuses ,replaced the two associated solenoids and still only get a single click.  Could it be fusible links or should I go get a starter?  Yes I know its a Northstar and the starter is under the intake manifold..
