Cadillac Repair: A/C lowside pressure, r 134 freon, r 12 freon

Question
sir,
  I have a 1992 deville w/4.9 V-8.
I have converted the A/C to R134A refrigerant.
Can You tell Me what the pressure on the low side valve should be and or the refigerant capacity?

Answer
Unfortunately due to the molecular differences in the R-12 freon vs the R-134 freon the R-134 freon will NOT work in your system due to the low pressure sensor calibration as it is preset to operate with ONLY R-12 freon.

R-12 capacity is 36.2 ounces of freon.
the LO side is near the accumulator.
the HI side is near the radiator.

The pressures are approx 50lbs on the lo side and 250lbs on the hi side, But since the R-134 refrigerant isNOT compatable to the R-12 system design this is only an approximation.

Once you convert it, You will have the A/C LOW REFRIGERANT lamp illuminating and the computer shutting down the A/C compressor due to the low pressure switch that is NOT compatable with the R-134 molecular structure.
