Cadillac Repair: Burnt oil under valve cover, cadillac eldorado, rear valve

Question
Hi, I hope you can help me with this question.  I have a 1986 Cadillac Eldorado 4.1L.  I took off the valve cover to tear the engine apart because of a water leak. When I did I noticed there is burnt oil under the front valve cover but not the back. Why would it be running so hot in the front of the valve cover?  Thank you. Sherry

Answer
I have been asking this question to GM for years and the only conclusion that I have come up with is that the front valve cover runs cooler than the rear valve cover temperature wise due to the cooling fans thus causing the engine to cool down the oil much faster causing it to buildup and cool more rapidly causing an accumulation of a burnt sludge deposit.
