Cadillac Repair: 1984 cadillac eldorado - check engine oil pressure light, oil pressure switch, engine oil pressure

Question
QUESTION: Recently, when i am driving my car and applying the break, the check oil pressure indicator will blink red and resume normal when i fully stop. Is this a problem with fuel pump? If so, is it very expensive to fix and in your professional opinion, do you think the overall age and reputation of the model car is worth investing money in to fix, or should i get rid of the car before the problems begin to multiply.  I thank you in advance.  I live in Los Angeles

ANSWER: The most likely and inexpensive thing to do is try replacing the oil pressure switch FIRST and naturally make sure the engine is full of oil. You can move up to a heavier weight oil if you want also..

QUESTION: Hello,

Thank you for your help. I think there is a bigger problem.  There is a noise when i'm driving - it sounds like blades of a fan hitting a playing card.   I know I can diagnose the problems from the climate control center.  Do you what i need to press in order to get a full diagnostic ?  I don't have a mechanic I can trust and would like to show up to the mechanic knowing what the problem is.  Thank you again

Answer
There is a very common problem with the plastic flywheel cover whereas the plastic cover when it is cold tends to contact the flywheel making this exact same noise and after the engine warms up the plastic flywheel cover it expands and the noise stops. Check it.
