Cadillac Repair: Aftermarket radio, oil pressure switch, radio facility

Question
QUESTION: I have the 96 deville with northstar and I was told if I install an aftermarket stereo system (head unit, speakers, amp) that it will screw up a whole lot of stuff. I dont have the bose factory system with amp I just wanna add my own stuff and take the factory system out. If that is true that it will screw up alot of things do u know what I need in order not to screw up stuff with the aftermarket stereo that I want to put in...Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ANSWER: I am GLAD that you asked BEFORE screwing up the electronics.

Have a professional radio facility install the radio as there are 3 seperate voltage circuits that run thru the factory radio. 5, 12 and 16 volts.

If you even attach ONE wrong wire for 1/2 second you can blow the computers or the instrument cluster.

QUESTION: What about changing out the pcm with another will that pcm have to be programmed or something or can I just swap out the chip.I'm asking this because my car is screwed up. My fuel pump runs sometimes and then sometimes it wont. Its a brand new one. when it first started acting up I had it changed out. The mechanic told me that nothing was wrong with the old fuel pump. I checked everything from the electrical connector at the fuel pump, oil pressure switch, relay. I just cant get this problem solved. It will run sometimes and sometimes it wont. Thats why I think it may be the computer. The motor was swapped by the way and I didnt have this problem until after about a month the motor was swapped.

Answer
Your problem is more likely to be a faulty intermittent wire connection. You will need several pictures with directives of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. as this website is not mine,  You will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com
