Cadillac Repair: my 97 catera wont start, lock cylinder, door key

Question
I have a '97 catera. I had to replaced the steer column last week, since then the car will not start. Before, it crank on the first turn every time. I had a key cloned from my door key for the ignition key but when i try to start it try to catch but doesn't. they say my anti-theft system is stopping it. Can i disconnect the anti-theft system or bypass it?

Answer
You have 2 choices: you need to get the original key that fits the lock cylinder of the replacement steering column and measure the amount of OHMS that the key reads and purchase a blank key with the same ohms reading and have the new key cut to match the grooves of the OLD key from the lock cylinder of your original column.

OR disconnect the 2 WHITE wire electrical connector at the base of the steering column and obtain a matching resistor that reads the exact amount of ohms that your original key does and attach the resistor across the 2 WHITE wires that go towards the pass-key module.
