Every once in awhile the Instrument panel cluster will act normally. But for most of the time shortly after starting the car it will show straight lines in the fuel economy section,goes into High speed defrost and none of the controls will work until you turn engine off and start again, only to have it do the same thing again. The INFL REST light flashes and then stays on. The car starts great has lots of power and drives fine. The Instument cluster has analog Speedo, fuel gauge and Tachometer. Any help is greatly appreciated!

ANSWER: IS or HAS the check engine light ever illuminated on the dash while driving the car ?.
The most common fault would be either the:
instrument cluster.
BCM computer.
DERM.

QUESTION: Hi,
Yes the check engine light does come on while driving. Sometimes the light goes out and then may come back on, but not all the times. It consistently shows R024, R026 and R036 codes that I am not able to clear. Thank you for your help with this frustrating problem.

AnswerR024 means that you have excessive voltage in the steering column for the air bag system.
R026 means you have an open circuit in the steeering column.
There is NO R036 code.
Check them again.
