Cadillac Repair: 91 Cadi Seville, Starter/Climate Control issues, cadillac seville, fuel pump filter

Question
I've had a few starting issues with my 91 cadillac seville off and on for 3 years, the first 1 was alright. I had the wiring in steering column replaced (yes, some wires were messed up, accord. to mechanic) and i had the starter replaced (unfortunately a napa one) this summer along with other maintenence like fuel pump/filter and plugs. I had concern that my starting issues were something in between the two or something with the ecm however.???   Ok so, thanksgiving 07 my starter completely went out again. And just before it did, i would have the hard starting problems again, it turns over and clicks but won't start.??? I had it towed to the "cadi" place. they replaced the starter but didn't run a true diagnostic before or after.  Now, it is doing it again. Every once in a while it won't start. Now of course i am paying attention to when it doesn't seem to start. Some people (mechanics/guys) think I'm crazy but it seems to be when the wiring gets hot or really hot outside (i just recently noticed how hot the wires to starter get being sooo close to radiator pipe.  Or it seems to be when i change the temp. since it has been cold outside, my car has been stuck in 90, hi, defrost, or off. Just recently it warmed up, i turned it down to 70 or 80, drove for 30min, shut the car off, and it wouldn't start 15-20min later. tried it a few times, banged on starter???, started after a couple more tries. It just happened again...drove for 1.5hrs, turned the heater down, but still off, went to get gas, and stuck at the gas station for 15-20min with hood open and 4 guys trying to figure it out for me...lovely!!!   I am just wondering...isn't there like some sort of $5-20 item like a temp sensor or something. I saw something about it a while ago during research with someone that had similar problems.  Or the ecm, eic??? it seems like it's something pretty simple, but no one is thinking of it.

Answer
When this no start condition occurs can you hear the starter trying to start the engine but the engine just won't run OPR do you hear NOTHING when you attempt to start the car ?.

If you had an ecm computer problem you would see the CHECK ENGINE light illuminated on the dash board.

IS or HAS the check engine light ever illuminated during these occurances ?.

Loose battery cable wires at the starter can cause this intermittent condition. An internally corroded btattery cable from the battery to the starter can also cause this.

A fault of the PASS-KEY system can cause this also BUT you would see a CHECK ENGINE light.
