Cadillac Repair: 1999 Cadillac STS stalling, 1999 cadillac sts, cadillac sts

Question
QUESTION: My 1999 Cadillac STS with Northstar engine will just die while I am driving.  It is not in any pattern, and I never know when or where it will happen.  It has stalled on the expressway while in cruise and when not, on city streets, and at any speed.  I do not know why it happens.  It has been doing this sporadically for about two years, and recently it has sporadically started just clicking when I try to start it.  It will eventually start after anwhere from one to as many as 20 tries.  Help!

ANSWER: Is or has the check engine light ever illuminated on the dash prior to this problem or as this fault is happening ?.

1. Ignition switch ON. Engine NOT running.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER (fan up) buttons on your climate control panel for 3 seconds and release them.

3. You will see on the fuel data display LETTERS & NUMBERS appear and the display will stop .

4. Write down everything that you see as if you were video taping the display. Make NOTE that with each code displayed will be the word HISTORY or CURRENT.
