Cadillac Repair: leveling i think, pump priming, air leaks

Question
i have a 99 sls, 140k miles..it's beginning to show its age.  i hear a motor running from the rear of the car..sounds like an electrical fuel pump priming up...it does not run constant, however it is running more now.  i have read as much as i can find here..thought i would at least ask for your expertise.  i have been told that the struts were showing signs of needing to be changed..estimate was $3000.

Answer
What you are hearing is the AIR PUMP that provides air to the struts to keep the vehicle leval.

Climb under the car and look for air leaks in the very hin plastic air lines using a very soapy spray bottle of dishwashing liquid and it will show you where the leak is at. Repair the leak with a splice kit that you can get at any auto parts store.

make sure that you spray the struts for air leaks also.
