Cadillac Repair: suspension, cadillac eldorado, control panel 1

Question
Im trying to service my 1993 Cadillac Eldorado, primarily the struts. Ive checked into a few places and they have quoted me a price of 2,500. Is this for real. Its a 4.9L v8 engine and I had it for about 4 years, I have had other things repaired, but this is by far the most expensive. I love this car,but is it worth it. I get a message "service ride control"

Answer
The first thing you need to do is check the computer for CODES via your climate control panel.

1. Ignition switch ON. Engine OFF.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons on the climate control panel for 3 seconds and release them.

3. Look on your fuel data display and you will see LETTERS & NUMBERS appear with the word HISTORY or CURRENT with each code that displays. The display will stop at PCM?

4. Tell me EXACTLY what you see on the display as if you were video-taping it

5. Turn ignition key OFF.
