Cadillac Repair: Illuminated entry problem, battery down, e mail

1995 Deville, the illuminated entry interior lights stay on intermittently.  Most of the time when you close and lock the door,they go off in 20 seconds, but sometimes they stay on or come back on later and run the battery down. What could be the problem?
