Cadillac Repair: 2000STS, head gasket leak, combustion gases

Question
QUESTION: I have an over heating problem>  All the recommended test analaysis has been done.   Could the problem be intake manifold gaskets?  Tested for combustion gases in rad but that appears ok. Temp goes up and down. Coolant level appears to stay near full. Highway driving is better.

ANSWER: Eric,
"...All the recommended test analaysis has been done..."
Please elaborate on that.

QUESTION: They tested for combustion gases in the rad. Replaced the coolant cap. Replaced the thermostat twice.  Flushed the rad twice. Took off hoses. Checked the temp. at various locations. Pressure tested coolant system.
(Didn't check water pump or temp. guage.)

There is no sign of coolant contamination in the Engines Oil.

I plan to add some die to the coolant soon (and use the light to check for leaks).

Do you know of any other tests I can try?

Could the intake manifold Gaskets need replacement?  Does coolant flow through the intake manifold like many cars do?

ANSWER: Eric,
Does the engine consume coolant at all?

QUESTION: I have had to add a bit.

Answer
Eric,
There's only two reasons for coolant usage:
1. A leak
2. Head gasket leak
If you're sure you have no external leaks, the coolant is most likely being drawn into the engine. Pull the plugs and inspect them for unusual deposits and/or excessive cleanliness. Plugs can tell you a great deal about what's going on in the combustion chamber. Any cylinder(s) that appear different from the others should be suspect for a head gasket of intake leak. Both can leak and cause coolant and/or oil to get into the combustion chamber. After that, do a compression test. A leaking head gasket will usually show low on compression.
