Auto Insurance Claims: vehicle accident, statute of limitation

Question
I just want to know the statute of limitations on collecting
from an auto accident. It occurred in May of 2013. I had the vehicle repaired, but I only have liability on my truck, so I payed out of pocket. Can my insurance company do anything for me? Or is there something else I can do myself?

Answer
If someone else was at fault, you could still file a claim with their insurance.  If they were uninsured, and you have uninsured motorist coverage, you could still claim it.  Otherwise, it looks like you don't have any other options.  If you had liability only and the damage was your fault, that's it.  If it wasn't your fault, you will probably have to sue somebody to get payment this late.  You have up to 5 years to sue for property damages in Illinois.

I hope this helps.
