Cadillac Repair: cadillac code 46, peak efficiency, oxygen sensor

QUESTION: I have a 1992 STS with a code 46 that comes up when I start the car. Can you help?

ANSWER: Does the code ONLY appear as E046 or does it have the word HISTORY or CURRENT displayed with it ?.

This codes means that you have a left to right side fueling problem whereas one side of the engine is getting more fuel than the other which can be caused by faulty fuel injectors.

QUESTION: When the code is displayed there is no "E0" in front if the 46 or "History,Current" with it. The check engine light has not come on either.

OK, Bring the code back up and watch for the word HISTORY or CURRENT as the code displays and let me know which it is.

This code is caused by:

exhaust manifold leaks.
Cracked or fouled spark plugs.
Intake manifold leak.
Faulty injectors.
Right side oxygen sensor not operating at peak efficiency.
