Cadillac Repair: 1997 Cadillac Deville, release latch, tension bars

Question
My trunk release works about every two out of three times I use the remote or the inside release. Once open, the pull down works every time. On the occasion when it does not release, I hear a click coming from somewhere near the release mechanism in the trunk lid. Does this have a relay in that area that may be defective?

Answer
There is a release solenoid cable on the underside of the trunk lid. Follow it back to the solenoid as the solenoid and or the release latch may need to be lubricated.

When you release the trunk lid it should pop open a couple of inches, If it does NOT you need to adjust the tension bars in the trunk.
