Cadillac Repair: Traction Control light stays on 1996 STS, wheel speed, speed sensor

Question
Replacement of an out of balance new tire on the front driver's side caused the car to veer sharply and constantly to the left, especially at higher speeds. It took a few days to correct the problem but meanwhile, my Traction control light came on and stayed on. Now the problem is fixed but the light is on all the time. I tried turning it off and back on by pushing the button in the glove box, but the button does not affect it. Is there anything I can do to get traction control back?

Answer
Hi Rex,

The place to start would be to have the codes read for the ABS and traction control system and that could lead to the fix. Having an out of balance tire shouldn't turn on the traction control light but a wheel speed sensor that isn't reading properly is one cause. There is a remote possibility that a fuse for the system might be blown and the computer is keeping the light on.
