Cadillac Repair: 1990 cadillac deville, sneaking suspicion, cadillac deville

This morning i turned on the defroster to take my daughter to school.  I drove maybe 2 miles and the car starting smoking real bad. It smells like burning rubber.  I turned off the defroster and the car.  When the car was brought back to my house it was making this grinding sound.  I just need an idea of what the problem might be.  If it matters the car has a small oil leak and my brother told me that the air conditioner on the car was not working.

Could be any number of things to honest. Any idea where the smoke is coming from? Under the car? Under the hood? I have a sneaking suspicion that it might be the A/C belt trying to turn a seized compressor but can't be sure without a little more input from you.
