QuestionQUESTION: Hi, I pulled several codes. The first code is IRC U1096, the second is PCM U1096 and the last is MSM B2120 which appears to be a lumbar seat code. Can you tell me what the first two codes mean? Thank you very much for your help.

ANSWER: PCM U1096 = no such code.
IRC U1096 = Loss of instrument panel control serial data communication to the radio.
Recheck your codes.
Try Clearing (erasing) all the codes from the computer via the climate control panel and see if they return. Disconnecting the battery will NOT clear the codes.

Answer1. Re-enter diagnostics and when you see PCM?
2. Push and release the HI button and you will see PCM data?.
3. Continue to push and release the LO button until you see PCM CLEAR CODES?
4. Push and release the Hi buttonnd you will see PCM CODES CLEAR. This clears the PCM codes.
5. press and release the OFF button which should return you to PCM?
6. Keep pushing and releasing the LO button until you see IRC?
7. Push and releae the HI button and you will see IRC DATA?
8. Continue to push and release the LO button until you see IRC CLEAR CODES?
9. Push and release the Hi buttonnd you will see IRC CODES CLEAR. This clears the IRC codes.
10. Turn ignition OFF. wait 30 seconds and re-enter diagnostics and see what codes re-appear.
