Cadillac Repair: 92 Deville SSS lite & Cruise Cntrl, power steering rack, rear shocks

Question
QUESTION: I 1992 Deville, that runs and looks great, but the SSS lite has come on and the suspension on longer works.  How can I tell if the suspension compressor has failed versus the bad sensors in rear shocks?  Additionally, the Cruise control has stopped working, and I recently read that when the A/C compressor has issues, this will turn the cruise off.  At the moment I cannot afford to repair the A/C and don't need it.  Is there anyway of circumventing the A/c failure from affecting the Cruise control.

Thanks,  Phil Smith

QUESTION: so How can you tell the difference between failed sensors in the rear shocks versus a failed compressor for the SSS failure?

ANSWER: By retrieving the fault codes from the computer via the climate control panel.

1. Ignition ON. Engine OFF.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER (fan up) buttons for 3 seconds and release them. In the fuel data center CODES will appear.

3. I need to know EXACTLY what appears EXACTLY as you see it. When the display stops displaying, Turn ignition OFF.

QUESTION: In this order:
888
..E
E27
E31
E40
E52
.EE
E40
..F
F48
.7.0

Answer
The codes AFTER the .EE displays are the ones that are CURRENT and the ones after the ..E are HISTORY codes.

We want to CLEAR (erase) all the codes from the computer via:

1. Re-enter diagnostics and when you see .7.0, Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and HI buttons until you see E.0.0 and release the buttons.

2. Turn OFF ignition switch. Wait 10 seconds.

3. Re-enter diagnostics and the only codes you should see are the .EE codes.

4. If after EE displays and code E40 appear, Replace the power steering switch on the power steering rack against the firewall near the passengers side or look for a faulty wire at the switch.

the F48 code is a history code and can be cleared by simultaneously pushing and holding the OFF and HI buttons until F.0.0 appears.

After you fixed the power steering switch or wire re-enter diagnostics and see if any codes re-appear and try and CLEAR them.
