Cadillac Repair: passenger side drive axle, cadillac eldorado, pan gasket

QUESTION: I'm in the process of replacing the oil pan gasket and I can't seem to get the
passenger side axle out of the center section third member(the part of the
axle that is dirrectly under the oil pan). Any help would be appreciated,

If you are referring to the part that goes into the transmission, There is a snap ring that exopands when you insert the axle into the trans and to remove it you can use a brass extension (drift punch) and put it on the large portion of the axle and drive the axle outward towards towards the wheel as this will collapse the snap ring into the axle groove and pop the component from the trans.
