Cadillac Repair: 1968 Eldorado, hemmings motor news, brake caliper

Question
where can I get a replacement glove box lock for a 1968 Eldorado?  Also, I am trying to locate fancy, non stock wheels, but everyone tells me that because its a front wheel drive, there aren't any available

Answer
Hi Rick,

Older parts can sometimes still be ordered from the Caddy dealer. Therewise there are a couple magazines at the news stand that might help...Hemmings Motor News and Old Cars. They have people that sell new as well as used parts. The last place I could suggest is junkyarddog.com   You enter the required information and with-in a couple hours you should get price quotes for the lock or the whole door sent to your place.

As for wheels alot of cars are front wheel drive and that has nothing to do with availability. What does make a differance are the bolt pattern, rim off-set and will it fit over the brake caliper and inside the fender. A good place to try would be tire rack. They don't go back to '68 on the web site but if you enter a newer vehicle you can see designs that are available. Then give them a call and see what they have and can recommend for your car. Otherwise I would open the phone book for area and call some places that advertise tires and rims and see what they have you can look at.

Hopefully I have been of some help. Bill
