Cadillac Repair: 91 Seville, coolant temp, lock tite

Question
Dear Sir,
I have a 91 Cad. Seville (Base Model) and have 2 problems. 1st the coolant/Temp fan comes and then shortly after engine hot light comes on. New radiator and water pump. Coolant full and fan working fine. could this be thermostat and if so where is it located. 2nd replaced stabilizer bars twice now. Last mechanic stated needed locking threads. Applied and now after 2500 miles they are rattling again. what could cause this to keep happening? Thanks for your time.

Answer
Is the engine getting hot and or boiling the coolant in the overflow plastic jug in the engine compartment when these lights come ON ?.

1. replace the ENGINE METAL TEMP SWITCH to correct both lights. The switch is located just above the #8 spark plug and has a 2 wire electrical connector attached to it.

The thermostat is located where the radiator top hose attaches to the top of the engine. Remove the 2 bolts that hold the hose fitting to the engine and there you will see the thermostat.

As to the stabilizer bars, See if the bolts are loose at the strut mounts and or the bushings are worn out. If the bolts are loose apply some LOCK-TITE to the threads of the bolts and re-install the bolts.
