Cadillac Repair: restart caddy, electric fuel pump, gas tank

I ran my husband's 1996 cadillac concourse out of gas how do i start it up again

Put gas in it first.

Next, remove the gas cap and have someone listen for the electric fuel pump in the gas tank to run (BUZZ) for 2 seconds and then stop when you turn the ignition switch to the ON position WITHOUT trying to start the engine. If you do NOT hear this 2 second fuel pump run (BUZZ) the fault is most likely a failed fuel pump in the gas tank.
