Cadillac Repair: 1995 Cadillac 4.9 Deville, distributor hole, drain hole

Question
On the above mentioned car, I had to remove the distributor to install a replacement a nut fell into the distributor hole and into the hole in engine.  What do I need to take apart to remove this nut? The intake? Or the oil pan? I've already tried to get it w/ a magnet to no avail.  Please Help???

Answer
It most likely went down into the oil pan.

remove the oil from the pan and purchase a fairly strong magnet and start dragging the magnet from about where you thing in the oil pan the nut would be, attach the magnet to the oil pan and drag the magnet towards the drain hole in the oil pan and depending upon the size of the nut it might come out the oil drain hole. If NOT, I doubt that just leaving it there would not caues any problems OR you can pull off the oil pan and remove it.
