Cadillac Repair: service control ride, newer cars, electrical connector

Question
how do i fix my service control ride i khow it has smething to do with my suspension sometimes it lowers to the floor and it scrapes its messin up my tires.

Answer
Hi Oscar,

It would have helped to know what year and model Caddy you have but this is what you can do for starters.

Since the vehicle sits low I would look at the struts and see if an air line has disconnected or an electrical connector is loose.

Then look at the height sensors to make sure that the arm is attached to the sensor and the frame or control arm. What sometimes happens is on older vehicles...pre 1995...is the link can rust or the plastic end breaks and the sensor doesn't know if the vehicle is level. On the newer cars there is usually a height sensor at all 4 wheels and one of the links may have disconnected or the sensor has gone bad.

Lastly if there is a sevice ride on service suspension light that turns on then codes will be stored and you will need to take the vehicle to your mechanic to scan for the code(s) and that will lead to the fix.

Hopefully I have been of some help. Bill
