Cadillac Repair: Trunk Release, jumper wire, fuse block

Question
My father bought a 1982 Cadillac Deville about a month ago and today he locked his keys in the trunk.  I asked him if there was a auto trunk release and he did not know.  Did this car have one and where would it be located?  Or can you tell me the easiest way to get in the trunk.

Answer
Hi Mike,

If there is a trunk release button it will be inside the glovebox on the LH side. I don't remember if the key needs to be turned on or not. If it does you can make a jumper wire from the fuse block, battery positive terminal or cigarette lighter orange wire.

Otherwise what I would do is remove the rear seats and hopefully you can reach the keys or use a coathanger to get them. To remove the rear seat push in at the bottom on both sides one at a time and then lift up to release the bench cushion. Once that is removed the 2 bolts that hold the seatbelts need to be removed and then the back cushion is lifted up off the retainer hooks.

Hope that helps, and may you find some treasure under the seat. Bill
