Car Alarms: car alarm button not working, corolla 2001, panic signal

Question
Hi , this situation happened to me last evenining and was in a spot. Had locked the car using the remote car alarm . When was trying to unlock, the button which a rubber one got sruck for some reason maybe its old thats why - i own a Toota Corolla 2001 model. The car alarm went off the moment i pressed it and the car was not getting unlocked and the siren would also not stop.
The green light was continuously blinking as teh siren was going off. after sometime the siren stopped and the blinking also became dimmer. but was still not able to unlock the doors. tried opening the car witk the keys and the door was opening , but the siren went off and would not stop. i could not start the enginer either . the remote did not work. Ultimately had to call a friend to get the duplicate key and coudl get the car alarm undone and could open the doors and drive.
in such a situation, wats the best thing to do if getting the duplicate key is not a possibility . i called lot of people , but none had a solution.
PLs help..
btw , the  car alarm remote button is still not working!!

Answer
In this case, start with removing the remote's battery if damaged.
Then it won't transmit the panic signal.

After that, place the alarm into valet/overide mode so you
can start and drive.

Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

At this point. the alarm would have reset.
If this had a starter kill relay installed,
it would now be opened, and the engine would
turn over when tried.

You would repeat these steps to go back to
user mode to see if this was corrected.

Once done, replace the transmitter, and
reset to user mode the same way.

I hope this helps out.
