Cadillac Repair: problems ... with cadillac, wireing diagram, starter solinoid

Question
dead car ,,.,,,, got battery charged and then when i went to put the cables back on the car tries to start ... what do I do ???????????????????????

Answer
Hi Adrian,

It would help to know a year and model. Do you have a remote starter...sometimes when a battery is replaced it can confuse the module and you could try leaveing the cable off for 15 minuits and then reattach it and see what happens.

Make sure the key is in the off position. If it is then there could be a problem with the ignition switch shorting out and need to get replaced.

Maybe the starter solinoid is shorted out and since it has the battery cable going to it that is allowing the engine to turn. Also might be worth a look to see that the ignition swich/small wire terminal isn't touching the battery cable post.

If you still are haveing problems figureing this out I would remove a cable and then remove the ignition terminal from the starter and tape up the wire end. Then hook up the battery cable and start traceing the wire back to see why it is getting power useing a wireing diagram and testlight or voltmeter.

Hopefully I have been of some help. Bill
