Cadillac Repair: car leveling, cadillac fleetwood, air shocks

Question
I have an 86/87 Cadillac Fleetwood that does not level out. I checked the air compressor and it runs and I can not find a broken line anywhere. I did notice when you take the line off the compressor that hardly any air comes out of it, My question is how much pressure are these compressors supposed to put out, and do you think with the age of the car I would be better off replacing the rear shocks/struts with regular air shocks?

Answer
compressor should give out 80 psi. Your most likely suspect is the height control sensor which is located under the rear of the car above the rear axle. you will see around multi-wire electrical plug going into a black square box that has a metal arm that attaches from the square box to the axle of the vehicle. If you disconnect the arm at the axle and push UP on the rod the air shocks should start to inflate in about 30 seconds and deflate when you pull the arm downward. This height sensor is well known for failure.

The compressor will eventually buildup to about 80 lbs if you leave a gage on it and continue to run it.
