Chevrolet Repair: Engine Light, cavilier, reminder

Hi I have a 1996 Cavilier it just turned over 100,000 miles and now the engine light has come on.  The car was cheked out and everything appears fine.  Is this just just some kind of reminder light for some type of dealership attention?

if this is the check engine light or service engine soon light, you have a malfunction somewhere. you need to take it to a dealership, or a local parts store that can scan it and have it hooked up to a scanner to retreive the code. then go from there. let me know what happens.
