Cadillac Repair: steering, head gasket leak, valve cover gasket

Question
I have a 1998 cadillac seville sts,my power steering becomes very hard to turn when I apply the brakes at slow speed eg parking.I also have a bad oil leak is the northstar known for leaking, What seal would this be.thanks

Answer
For the power steering, check the level of power steering fluid in the resovoir and refill as neccessary, the color should range from red to a brownish red, the darker the color of the fluid the more a power steering system flush is needed, although this is an uncommon job.
As for the oil leak, this could be the oil pan gasket, or the the oil pan being loose, you can try to tighten the oil pan gasket but be careful not to crack it, also check the drain plug and oil filter.
If you pull an ignition cable out and see oil where the spark plug is there is most likely a valve cover gasket leak and possibly a head gasket leak, though this is unlikely you should still check.
The other possibility is the main oil seal.
