Cadillac Repair: 1990 SEDAN DEVILLE, blown fuses, beam headlights

Question
I have a 90 sedan deville cadillac. No error codes at all.
My rear left window doesnt go down or up from the master switch which is brand new, it will only go down from the rear swtich(which is also new) but i have to reverse the polarity from the rear switch and hit down on the rear swtich to return the window up.
My low beam headlights dont work, the master switch is working, all lights in the car work but the low beams, no blown fuses, relays are all new(replaced after the lights stopped working) im thinking its a fusible link, but im not sure which wire is for the headlights...?
Replaced my idle speed control and my idle is still a little bit high, tried unplugging the battery...didnt reset it, i know how to read codes but i dont know how to go into diagnostics, any way you know of that i can "hack" into the ecm through the climate control and adjust my idle, i have access to a genesis OBD scanner to set the idle at 750 exact, or if you suggest a better speed.

Answer
Hi Joey,

Setting up the adjustments on this engine is kind of critical or like you found out a higher idle will happen. The process is this 1) warm the engine to operating temp. Set the timing to 10*BTDC 2)Back off the idle speed control motor so the throttle is on the base idle screw. Ground the alternator wire and adjust to 525RPM 3) TPS @.50V 4) Engine off and adjust the isc motor to its max travel. Then adjust the nose screw until the TPS reads 1.15V Unground the alternator wire and allow the idle to adjust itself. If you are lucky it will return to normal. If not the idle relearn will need to be done.

With the window problem you will need to test for power comming out of the switch and at the motor to see where the problem is. However if you pull the boot back that is between the hinges of the drivers door you could find at least 1 wire and possably more that have flexed is half.

As for the headlights you will need a wireing daigram and a testlight or voltmeter to see if the voltage is comming out of the switch. Then see that it is comming out of the headlamp dimmer switch. It can happen that both low beam bulbs can be burned out. Double check that they are working by jumpering the bulbs to the battery.

In my opinion it would benifit you to subscribe to alldata.com for your shop manual because other than the GM manual none of the others will be able to give you the info you will need to fix this yourself. You could try the library because they might have the manual you need. Sorry I can't send pics or steps but your problems are rather involved. Hope this gets you started. Bill
