QuestionHello. everyone. I have a 1993 cadillac seville that has been giving me some trouble for the past 2 week. The car service engine soon light is on and the past few days the car has been cutting off. Sometimes the stop engine display comes on but for 2 days the car has just been cutting of without warning. A few things that i have noticed is that smoke comes from the hood and i saw smoke coming from the bottom of the car. Found out that I needed a cadilac converter and i had it replaced yesterday. They said no smoke was coming from the hood it was rising from the bottom of the car. Now, as i was pulling out the auto garage. The car turned off on me again in reverse gear. I tried to restart it and it cranked up but it did not start up. So i let it set for 2 minutes, and it drove. I drove straight home and took the freeway car seemed fine. As i exit car was great, when i was turning at the stop sign car turned off. I got out to see if i saw smoke, and it wasn't any. We after letting it sit for a minute i made it home. A few days prior to this problem i took it to the shop for a dianostic because the car had black smoke coming from the exushast. The mechianic had it in there for 2 days and said he couldn't clear the service engine code. He said that several things poped up with the engine when he on the machine and he cleared all of them except one. He said that he couldn't get the egine code of because he did not know that the code: cracktion meant. I asked other shop what the thought and they said there not sure what cracktion means but the engine and transmission looks good. So nobody's sure what it means. There is a oil leak but they said that doesn't have anything to do with the engine. Another thing is that the speedmeter stoped working every since the service engine soon is on. Another thing is the rpm moves from 1 to 2 on it's on looks like it kicking up and down when i start the car or when i'm stopped at stop light/sign. Please help me i need someone to tell me what it is.

AnswerI believe you mean TRACTION.
Perform this procedure:
1. Ignition ON. Engine OFF.
2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons on your climate control panel for 3 seconds and release them.
3. Codes in the form of letters/numbers will appear and will stop when you see PCM?.
4. Tell me what the codes are as if you were video taping them in the exact order in which they display.
5. Once you see PCM? push and release the HI button and you will see PCM DATA?
6. Keep pushing and releasing the LO button until you see PCM CLEAR CODES?
7. Push and release the HI button and you will see PCM CODES CLEAR or possibly PCM CLEAR CODES. wait 5 seconds and turn off ignition.
8. See if oil light goes out.
If not, Repeat steps 1 thru 4 and let me know what letter/number codes appear and or any messages that appear.
Has ANY work been performed on the vehicle within the last 6 months ?. ANYTHING ?.
